A Valentine’s Day lament

If I had to roam the world
To pursue my dreams
Would you wait for me?

If I had to go to war
To defend a righteous cause
Would you stand by me?

If I lost my moral compass
and strayed from the truth
Would you guide me?

And when my quest was over
And I returned tired and worn
Would you welcome me?

And should I have the courage
To confess: “I love you”
Would you say you loved me too?
