there is just too much
too much death
too many bodies
too many body parts
hanging on hooks
too many slabs of flesh
chopped minced sliced diced
entombed in plastic
on ignominious public display
vertebrate or invertebrate – mammal or reptile
no matter if they fly run hop crawl slither or swim
they are hunted terrorized looted raped plundered
processed cooked manufactured bought and sold
all God’s creations, alive and sentient beings
now merely things — objects commodities
to satisfy our voracious communal gluttony
and in this sorry cruel world
the chosen species
bears no guilt
sheds no tear
no remorse
no compassion
no regret
no contrition
no humanity
